Here we are in 2012 and we have already had our Annual Dinner at Goodyear Pavilion ,which was attended by almost every choir member, and a good meal was complemented by some laughs from Dave Bartley who provided the entertainment.
We have bookings for March and June, a concert for ourselves on 26th May and tentative enquiries for April and May so we have a busy start to the year but we like it that way.Let us know if you have a good cause that deserves some support.
The year ended with two concerts at our home ground, Portobello Methodist Church and an evening of carol singing at the Willenhall Lock Museum. All good fun , with chestnuts off the brazier and mulled wine and mince pies. Very nostalgic !
On behalf of the choir please accept our thanks for the excellent support we have received over the last year or so. It has been much appreciated.
We reconvene with our annual dinner at the Pavilion on 9th January so, Happy Christmas to all, and a healthy and prosperous New Year.
We hope to see you in 2012.
We presented the final cheque to Walsall Breast Cancer Care Group at our last rehearsal of 2011 on December 12th.The total raised came to £1850 so well done everybody!
Our Annual Charity Concert 2011 in aid of Walsall Breast Cancer Care Group was well attended, another house, and everyone seemed to enjoy it.We are very grateful for your support.
It was Justine's first major event and our new Musical Director introduced some more recent numbers to the programme which gave it a different flavour. In particular the Best of Bond medley was well received. Our guests, the Forest Arts Centre Steel Pan Band, led by John Baugh, were outstanding and had everyone tapping their feet to tunes from the 50s, 60s and 70s. We were also treated to a piano duet from Bridget Tait and Matt Colley. Excellent!
The presentation cheque was drafted for £1300 but we are sure when all the cash is in and counted, the final REAL one will be a lot bigger.
Here are a couple of shots of the event and there are more if you follow this link. Charity concert 2011.

Willenhall Musical Society was formed in the 1940's by employees of the Yale & Towne Manufacturing company as a mixed choir. The choir has performed regularly at concerts in the local area and from time to time, further afield. In an average year we put on between six and ten concerts, of which 2 or 3 are festive Christmas concerts.
Over the years the choir has flourished and has sung in competitions around the country. The current membership numbers a little under 40, but in common with most mixed choirs, there is a predominance of ladies. We all believe that every effort should be made to preserve the British choral tradition and in furtherance of that desire, we actively encourage the recruitment of younger members. Willenhall Musical Society has a written constitution and a Managing Committee and is a member of the National Association of Choirs.
We arrange concerts to support many charities and charitable organisations in the West Midlands and hold an annual concert, normally in November, for our charity of the year. We often invite guest artistes to share the stage for this annual concert and we have welcomed some terrific performers over the years from junior school bands to polished semi professional singers.
Our rehearsals take place each Monday evening, from 7.30 to 9.30 at Portobello Methodist Church, New St. just off the Keyway island. They are always fun and usually fairly painless! Anyone who likes to sing and can hold a tune will be warmly welcomed, particularly gentlemen, (currently outnumbered 4 to 1) and contraltos. See Contact details on Contact Us page.
